Weekly Devotion --- God's Silence, Our Stillness 上帝的沉默,我们的静止

They cried out to the LORD in their trouble,and He brought them out of their distress.He stilled the storm to a whisper,and the waves of the sea were hushed.

                                                                                  <Psalm 107:28-29>

When suffering of any kind hits and we go to God with our brokenness, sometimes the wait to hear from Him can be as painful as the situation we’re facing. But God’s silence does not mean His absence. He is all in, around, before, and behind, and sometimes it takes the still of His silence to get us to be still as well so we can hear the whispers of His presence. It’s hard to be still because that’s when we feel our pain the most. But the more we put off the pain, the more we put off our healing, and He knows that.

We want the quickest route up out of our valley floors—God’s aim is for us to be whole through the work He does in our healing. Just as a child must be still for a doctor to examine and fix a wound, we must be still to let God in and apply His soothing balm right where it’s needed. We must take time to be still and feel.

Father, I need Your presence, I need to hear Your voice, I need Your comfort right now.  I am hurting and trusting that You are with me even though You seem absent.  Your Word says that You are near the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), so I claim that now, in faith, and cling to Your nearness and the peace it gives.

Be with me, help me, as I go through the pain that’s all around; heal my heart and give me strength as I go through this day that You have given.

IN YOUR LOVING ARMS I WILL REST. AMEN.
